You never think YOU'LL hear the words, "We think your son has Leukemia..." Those are the exact words we heard in the ER at Children's Mercy on September 14, 2013. Our world stopped as we didn't know what to expect for the future of our sweet baby Austie.
Austin is a three and a half year old twin (brother Jack). He's been a fighter since the beginning as he was born 10 weeks premature. After our NICU experience and until the Leukemia, he's been a perfectly healthy, happy, truck-loving, sandbox playing kid who brings happiness to anyone who hears his sweet voice or knows his kind eyes. We are so blessed to have the network of family, friends and colleagues to help support us during this trying time. There is not a doubt in our minds that Austie will beat this; however, we know it will be a long haul. There's no giving up or giving in. It's not a sprint, it's a distance run and we will work hard the whole way to recovery.
It's cliche but true, we appreciate your support more than words can say. Thank you for your time, your energy, your prayers, your support - we are grateful, thank you.
This site it set up to help organize information related to raising money for Austin's medical expenses, and for others down the road after we beat this. We will pay it forward and commit to helping others who have their world rocked by childhood cancer.
Please note, at this time, this is not a non-profit organization. We hope to some day grow to this but at this point, we are purely a donation for supporting Austin and other families.
